Terms of Service & Studio Policies

Last Updated: October 30, 2026

1. Registration and Enrollment

  • Enrollment: Enrollment is ongoing and subject to availability. A student's place in a class is reserved upon successful registration and payment of applicable fees.

  • Enrollment Status: Registration is finalized on a first-come, first-served basis. A student’s placement within a music theory class or private lesson slot is officially secured only upon submission of the registration form and the successful processing of the registration deposit or initial monthly tuition.

  • Student Commitment: Registration constitutes a commitment to the full duration of the current paid billing month. Enrollment may be canceled at any time, with the cancellation taking effect at the conclusion of the active monthly billing cycle.

2. Tuition and Payments

The score for how billing works at our studio.

2.1 Flat-rate tuition

Tuition is a flat monthly rate, covering four 60-minute classes per month. Think of it as a steady tempo: the same beat every month.

Some months have a fifth class date, and others have only three because of holidays or studio closures. Like a good piece of music, it all evens out over the term, so you always pay the same amount.

2.2 Automatic billing on the 1st

Every month begins with a downbeat. Tuition is charged automatically on the 1st of each month using the payment method saved in your family account. Please keep your payment details up to date. If a charge doesn’t go through, we’ll reach out so it can be resolved quickly.

2.3 Starting mid-month

Starting during the first week (the 1st-7th): you join on the first measure and pay the full monthly tuition.

Starting after the first week (the 8th or later): you come in mid-phrase, so your first month is prorated based on the classes remaining. Automatic billing then begins on the 1st of the following month.

2.4 Registration fee

  • One-time enrollment fee: $25

    1. Charged once when a student first enrolls.

    1. Covers initial assessment, placement, student account setup, and administrative processing.

    1. Not charged again when moving between levels or courses.

    1. Waived for returning students.

    2. Not charged for Six-week introductory course and Five-day camps

2.5 A gentle reminder, and a late fee

Tuition is due on the 1st.

If payment is still outstanding on the 5th, you’ll receive a friendly reminder.

If payment arrives after the 10th, a $25 late fee will be added to your account. Consider it the cost of a missed entrance.

2.6 Dropping or withdrawing

If you decide to pause or stop classes, please let us know ASAP.

If classes are dropped after the 15th of the month, that month’s tuition is non-refundable (the next month’s tuition will not be charged), since the studio has already reserved your place in the program. Notice given on or before the 15th: a refund for two classes not yet taught that month will be issued.

2.7 Questions

If anything about your invoice is unclear, or you’d like to discuss a payment concern, reply to your billing email or contact us at info@melikmusiclab.com. We’re happy to help you keep the music going.

3. Attendance

  • Attendance: Regular attendance helps students make consistent progress. Students are encouraged to attend every scheduled lesson.

  • Punctuality: Students are expected to arrive or log on on time for all scheduled music theory sessions. Lessons or classes will end at their regularly scheduled time, even if a student arrives late.

  • Teacher Absences: In the rare event that the instructor must cancel a session due to illness or professional conflict, a makeup class will be scheduled, or a tuition credit will be applied to the following billing period.

4. Student Cancellations

We understand that schedules can change!

  • Notification Window: If a student needs to miss a scheduled session, notification must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Missed Sessions: Cancellations made past the notification window, or failure to show up to a session ("no-shows"), will forfeit that lesson or class. No makeup sessions or tuition refunds will be issued for late student cancellations.

  • Lesson Make-Ups: Eligible make-up sessions are subject to availability and must be booked directly through the online studio calendar. Scheduling is dependent on open time slots and cannot be guaranteed.

5. Educational Content & Disclaimer

The music theory information, resource lists, and book recommendations provided on this website are for general educational informational purposes only. Product names, logos, brands, and curriculum materials referenced on this site remain the intellectual property of their respective trademark holders (including Ultimate Music Theory). While we strive for absolute clarity, content is provided on an "as-is" basis regarding its suitability for specific external exam requirements.

6. Online Class Etiquette & Participation

A positive and interactive learning environment helps every student succeed. To ensure the best experience for all participants, students agree to the following expectations:

Before Class:

  1. Join the class up to three minutes before the scheduled start time.

  2. Have all required materials ready.

  3. Use a quiet, distraction-free learning space whenever possible.

  4. Use a reliable internet connection.

  5. Have a device with working audio and video.

6.1 Camera and microphone

Students are expected to keep their camera on for the duration of class.

Seeing one another helps create a welcoming classroom environment, allows the instructor to provide effective guidance and feedback, and encourages active participation.

Microphones should remain muted unless a student is speaking, singing, or otherwise directed by the instructor.

6.2 Respectful and Effective Learning Environment

Students should participate actively, remain attentive, and treat instructors and classmates with kindness and respect. To maintain a productive learning environment, students should avoid unrelated activities, excessive background noise, and unnecessary distractions during class.

6.3 Technical Difficulties

If temporary technical issues require a student's camera or microphone to be turned off, the student should notify the instructor through the platform's chat feature or as soon as reasonably possible. Brief accommodation may be made at the instructor's discretion. Technical difficulties on the student's end may not qualify for a make-up lesson.

7. Student Progress and Parent/Guardian Participation

Regular participation and practice between classes contribute significantly to student success. While individual progress will vary, students are encouraged to review lesson materials and complete assigned activities to reinforce learning.

Parents or guardians of younger students are encouraged to help ensure that students arrive on time, have the necessary materials ready, and can participate in class with minimal distractions. While the instructor leads the lesson, parental support outside of class can greatly enhance a student's success.

8. Third-Party Links & Products

Our site contains links to third-party e-commerce websites (like Amazon) and educational publishers that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, product fulfillment, shipping, or customer service practices of any third-party websites. 13. Studio Discretion And Exceptional Circumstances

Our goal is to treat every student and family with fairness and understanding while maintaining consistent policies for everyone.

From time to time, unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather, natural disasters, widespread technical outages, family emergencies, illness, or other extraordinary events may affect scheduled classes or a student's ability to attend.

In such situations, the studio may, at its sole discretion, offer alternative arrangements, including rescheduling, make-up opportunities, account credits, or other accommodations as deemed appropriate. This accommodation is provided on a case-by-case basis and should not be interpreted as a modification of the studio's standard policies or as a guarantee of future exceptions.

The studio's decisions regarding exceptional circumstances are final and are made with the best interests of all students and the studio community in mind.

14. Policy Acknowledgment: Enrollment in classes and participation in studio activities constitutes formal acknowledgment that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by all terms outlined within Melik Music Lab Policy.
